New Delhi: The much-awaited mythological epic Ramayana: Part 1 is gearing up for a historic global release, with makers planning one of the biggest launches ever for an Indian film. As anticipation continues to rise among audiences in India and abroad, the film is set to create a new benchmark by reaching viewers across multiple regions and languages.
Produced on a massive scale, the film is expected to arrive in theatres before Diwali 2026. The makers have already confirmed that the movie will release in India on November 5, while advance bookings will open from Dussehra on October 20.
Ramayana: Part 1 To Release in Around 40 Languages Worldwide
According to reports, producer Namit Malhotra and the core team behind Ramayana are preparing to make it one of the widest releases for an Indian film. To connect with audiences globally, the film has been dubbed in around 40 languages.
This move will allow viewers from different parts of the world to experience the epic story in their own languages without depending on subtitles. The complete list of dubbed languages is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
First Indian Film to Get a 40-Language Release
If released as planned, Ramayana: Part 1 will become the first Indian film to be dubbed and released in nearly 40 languages.
Earlier, Mehboob Khan’s 1952 classic Aan was released across 28 countries in 17 languages, marking a major milestone at that time. Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli’s RRR was planned for digital release in 50 languages, but its theatrical release was limited to five languages.
Several pan-India films have been released in Hindi and South Indian languages, usually covering four to five versions. However, a theatrical release across 40 languages would set a new record for Indian cinema.
Star-Studded Cast and Two-Part Epic
Ramayana: Part 1 features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
The film has been directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The music has been composed by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer together.
The epic will be released in two parts. The first instalment is scheduled to arrive in theatres during Diwali 2026, while the second part is planned for a Diwali 2027 release.
