Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash’s much-anticipated film Ramayana: Part One has drawn fresh attention ahead of its theatrical release, with reports suggesting that the film has a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes. The Nitesh Tiwari-directed epic, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, has also reportedly received a U certificate from India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the makers have yet to officially confirm the final certification of the full-length feature film.
195-Minute Runtime Adds to the Film’s Scale
According to reports, Ramayana: Part One has locked its runtime at 195 minutes, placing it among the longer major Indian releases of the year. The international runtime had earlier been listed by IMAX, as reported by Variety India.
The film’s extended duration reflects the scale of the adaptation, which brings together several key characters, elaborate action sequences and a story rooted in Indian culture and tradition. The makers are developing the epic as a two-part cinematic presentation, allowing them to explore the narrative across separate releases rather than compressing the entire story into a single film.
U Certificate Reportedly Granted, but Final Classification Awaits Confirmation
According to Sacnilk, the film has received a U certificate, which allows unrestricted public exhibition in India. However, the publicly verifiable CBFC records mentioned in reports show U certification for promotional material, including the trailer released in July. The final certification of the complete feature film has not yet been independently confirmed.
This distinction is important because certification for a film’s promotional material does not automatically establish the classification awarded to the entire movie.
US Rating Highlights Action and Violence
In the United States, the Motion Picture Association has reportedly assigned the film a PG-13 rating because of sequences involving strong violence and action, along with some bloody images.
The American rating system differs from India’s classification framework. A PG-13 rating advises parents that some content may not be suitable for children below the age of 13. The difference between the reported Indian and American classifications does not, by itself, indicate that separate versions of the film will be released in the two countries.
Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part One is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Prince Rama of Ayodhya, Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, and Kannada superstar Yash appears as Ravana. The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles.
Worldwide Release Scheduled for November 5
Ramayana: Part One is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. The film will be released in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
With its reported 195-minute runtime, high-profile cast and ambitious two-part format, the film is among the major Indian cinematic releases attracting attention ahead of its arrival in theatres.
