Eetha Trailer Showcases Shraddha Kapoor’s Powerful Transformation
Maddock Films released the trailer with the caption, “The curtains have risen and the Tamasha is ready.” The video introduces Shraddha as Vitthabai, bringing out the strength, emotional depth and determination of the celebrated folk artist.
The trailer opens with a hard-hitting dialogue delivered by Shraddha’s character: “You were the one who said, weren’t you, let’s see what breaks first—my trust or my pride? My trust was my pride. When that broke, everything fell apart.”
The story then moves through different stages of Vitthabai’s journey, highlighting the hardships she faced before becoming a renowned name in Lavani and Tamasha performances. Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub’s impactful voiceover adds another layer to the trailer.
Who Was Legendary Folk Performer Vitthabai?
Vitthabai was born in Pandharpur, in Maharashtra’s Solapur district, and grew up in a family closely associated with performing arts. Her father and uncle managed a troupe known as Bhau-Bapu Mang Narayangavkar. The group had originally been established by her grandfather, Narayan Khude, who belonged to Kavthe Yemaai village in Shirur taluka of Pune district.
From an early age, Vitthabai became familiar with several traditional folk forms, including Lavani, Gavalan and Bhedik. Although she was not particularly strong academically, she displayed remarkable talent on stage from a very young age. She developed her performance skills without formal training and went on to establish herself as a prominent artist.
One of the most extraordinary incidents associated with her life took place during a stage performance. Vitthabai reportedly went into labour while performing. She moved backstage, delivered her baby and used a stone to cut the umbilical cord. Remarkably, she returned to the stage shortly afterwards and continued her performance. The audience was left astonished when they noticed that her pregnancy bump was no longer visible.
