Mumbai: Mumbai Police have arrested an eighth accused in the firing case involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. The accused, identified as Ankit, was apprehended from Baroda village in Haryana’s Sonipat district on Wednesday over suspected involvement in the alleged conspiracy. He is being brought to Mumbai on transit remand as investigators continue to trace the network behind the incident.
The latest arrest comes after four other accused, including two women, were arrested on Tuesday. During questioning, the women, identified as Radha and Babita, allegedly told investigators that they had travelled from Haryana to Mumbai by train carrying a pistol and 20 cartridges on the instructions of Kunal. The weapon and ammunition were allegedly handed over to the shooters involved in the attack.
Three Shooters Arrested After Firing in Juhu
The firing incident reportedly took place in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday at around 7 pm. According to the investigation, three men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly fired five rounds before fleeing the scene.
Rajasthan Police subsequently arrested the three alleged shooters at Kota Junction. They were brought to Mumbai at around 4 am on Wednesday and were scheduled to be produced before a court for further proceedings.
The three accused have been identified as Phool Singh and Rehan, residents of Sonipat in Haryana, and Hrithik, who hails from Begusarai in Bihar. Investigators allege that these three men carried out the firing at Tiger Shroff.
Radha, Babita, Kunal and Sumit Under Investigation
The four people arrested on Tuesday have been identified as Kunal and Sumit, both from Sonipat district in Haryana, and Radha and Babita, who are from Uttar Pradesh. They were arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell and subsequently handed over to Mumbai Police.
Investigators suspect that the four accused were part of an alleged weapons-supply network linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to the police investigation, Kunal was allegedly in contact with Anil Pandit, a suspected gang associate believed to be operating his network from the United States.
The alleged role of each accused and the connections between them are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police Probe Possible Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Connection
The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the firing case. Police have registered a case under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. The charges include attempted murder and alleged involvement in a common criminal act.
Investigators suspect that Anil Pandit, described as an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, coordinated the broader plan from abroad. Police are examining the suspected links between the alleged conspirators, the weapons suppliers and the three men accused of carrying out the shooting.
With Ankit’s arrest taking the total number of accused in custody to eight, investigators are continuing to question those arrested to establish the alleged conspiracy, the movement of the weapon and the roles played by each individual in the case.
